The attention of the international development community will in the days ahead be focused on Sao Paolo, Brazil which is hosting the Third International conference on National Evaluation Capacities (NEC).

More than 160 participants carefully drawn from evaluation associations, government agencies, and international organizations will be in Sao Paolo to seek innovative solutions to the following three major challenges to evaluation: credibility, independence and use.

The conference which is the third of its kind is organized jointly by the Evaluation Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Brazilian National Secretariat of Evaluation and Information Management of the Ministry of Social Development and Fight Against Hunger (MSD). For three days, delegates to the conference will brainstorm on innovative solutions to tackle challenges linked to credibility, independence and use.

On day one of the conference (Monday, September 30, 2013) UNDP and other partners present on the ground in Sao Paolo will make a major announcement regarding 2015 as International Year of Evaluation (EvalYear).

Enters Climate-Eval

The Global Environment Facility Evaluation Office (GEFEO) through Climate-eval will be present at the conference to share the latter’s experience with knowledge sharing and capacity building.

Climate-Eval is essentially a capacity building platform whereby evaluators from all over the world specialized in climate change evaluations can go for state of the art knowledge and resources to help them do their work better.

Through networking with other regional associations, Climate-Eval is able to reach out to other evaluators and share best practices and cutting edge knowledge in the evaluation of climate change and development - and recently natural resource management.
