Under the umbrella of the Climate-Eval Community of Practice, the conference brought evaluation professionals, academics, policymakers and other stakeholders from developed and developing countries together with the purpose of fostering the exchange of ideas and methods to evaluate climate change and sustainable development.

Opening Plenary: 2nd International Conference

Watch the opening session of the 2nd International Conference on Evaluating Climate Change and Development. The plenary was inaugurated by Juha I. Uitto (Global Environmental Facility Independent Evaluation Office) together with Monika Egger Kissling (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation) and Chizuru Aoki (Representative of CEO of Global Environmental Facility). The opening session was followed by a key note speech by Andrew Steer (World Resource Institute).

Evaluation is a powerful tool for policymakers to understand what climate projects works and what do not, says Juha Uitto, director of the Independent Evaluation Office at the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

‘We have to learn for what has worked so far and in what specific situations. This conference is really part of that process,” he says.
